Daniela Flores Magón is a Mexican artist living in The Netherlands since 2008. She expresses her art through traditional Mexican chimeric pieces called Alebrijes. These beings are brought to life by using the traditional technique of “cartonería”, paper, wire, and colorful paint.
The legend has it that Alebrijes are born from nightmares or feverish hallucinations but with the intent to protect you and take care of your dreams. So despite their weird shapes, they are kind and loyal guardians.
This original exhibition of Mexican art reflects the rich influence of the culture. You will find “calaveras” –very used at the Day of the Dead-, small demons and dragons, fantastic animals, and other pieces; all vibrantly painted with meticulous patterns.
Come meet this oneiric world of Mexican culture transmitted through the personal expression of Daniela Flores Magón.
