I don't think it is totally 2009, but it came into enormous popularity in 2009: 'friend' used as a verb. You add someone to your network by "friending" them, or remove them by "unfriending" them. Feel free to friend me:=)

My friend befriended another friend who lacked friends then they went out friending other friends on a social network, leaving the opportunity to always unfriend the unfriendly!

This is a good advice-to unfriend the unfriendly. Don't hesitate, it will give you more time for fun.

No doubt about it, the election of Obama.
Obama has as President created a new climate in international politics. Multilateral diplomacy has regained a central position, with emphasis on the role that the United Nations and other international institutions can play. Dialogue and negotiations are preferred as instruments for resolving even the most difficult international conflicts. The vision of a world free from nuclear arms has powerfully stimulated disarmament and arms control negotiations. Thanks to Obama's initiative, the USA is now playing a more constructive role in meeting the great climatic challenges the world is confronting. Democracy and human rights are to be strengthened.

Kind regards,
Bert Jansen

Michael Jackson's death was the most talked about event of 2009. 'It was a tragic story and one that many people will remember when they think back to 2009.

The fact the Mexican (swine) flu knew how to stay south of most people's borders. It turns out, it's a rather intelligent virus without a valid passport or travel destination. It's now doing stand-up comedy, living on the fringe.

Wow- I'm loving everyone's comments and experiences. My interest was especially piqued when Andres shared his opinion about "friending" people. As for myself on a personal note I fulfilled my dream of traveling to New York. It was absolutely amazing.

Pipl. http://www.pipl.com/ It is tenacious people-search engine. Pipl's claim to fame is the depths to which it can plumb the "deep web" to find information. When you search for a person using Pipl, you're not limited to a simple white pages search. Pipl scours databases and indexes that standard search engines normally don't touch. If it's there to be found, Pipl returns all manner of things about the person you're searching for, including blog entires, photos, publications, donations on public record, profiles on social and business networking sites, and other overlooked sources. Pipl supports searching by name, username, phone number, and email.

In the Netherlands we have the people search engine called wie o wie, http://wieowie.nl/. I think the general idea is the same like pipl. It searches social networks, Twitter, blogs, google, yahoo and much more. You should try it one time.
