Going on a weekend trip or a week-long vacation is the best treat for yourself. It’s the time to break away from the hustle and bustle of your work and head to your dream paradise. However, many find vacation also stressful especially during the preparation period. You’ll have to book flights, reserve accommodations and more importantly, pack your things. Packing your things though doesn’t have to be a hassle if you know the important guidelines to follow. You wouldn’t want your vacation to be ruined because you left one of your most important travel essentials like your camera. So here are some tips on how to pack your bag for an unforgettable vacation.
- The first and most important thing to do when packing is to make a list of the things you plan to bring. This will help you keep track of your things and keep you from overlooking important stuffs you’ll need while on vacation. Organize your list by listing the items by type, for example toiletries, clothes, etc. List everything including those you think you will never forget such as underwear or cellphone. Believe it or not, but a number of people forget to include in their luggage these essential stuffs.
- Place your toiletries in a different bag or container, separate from all your other stuffs. This is because at times during travel, shampoo bottles and toothpaste tubes leak and may stain or damage your clothes and other things. So to avoid this unfortunate happening, better separate it when packing.
- Choose a bag that will accommodate all your things. If possible, limit the number of bags you take with you when traveling. This will work to your advantage because it will be easier to carry, lighter and less of a hassle. Tugging along several bags can stress you out and can be bothering because you’ll have to make sure you’ve brought along all the right bags. But if you need several bags, then so be it. Don’t force stuffing your bag with everything because this might damage your bag and your things inside. Just make sure to check the number of bags you’ve brought when leaving the airport or taking the taxi so you won’t lose a bag. But, don’t be an overpacker. Just because you’re afraid you might forget something that you pack almost everything from home. Avoid bringing the things that you won’t even be using during your trip, that’s the use of the list you made. You should consider weight restrictions especially when traveling by plane. Remember, excess baggage is a little expensive.
- Place bulky and heavy items at the bottom of the bag so as not to break fragile things or crease your clothing. One secret in order to lessen the wrinkle of your clothes is to roll it, you save space by doing this as well. Small things can be tucked inside bigger items to allow more space for other things.
Applying all those tips will surely make your packing stress free. By knowing what to do, you’ll avoid forgetting must-bring items or avoid overpacking by bringing stuffs you won’t need. So start packing right and enjoy your vacation!
