Let’s face the fact that almost everyone now, from students to businessmen, watches loads of videos, news programs, webinars and lectures online. For example modern online GED classes promoted by EducateTheUSA.com are based mostly on online videos. Because my job at EducateThe USA is also product development, I needed to test all the online GED preparation classes and it takes time so I was quite happy to find a software called MySpeed. This software allows you to speed through online videos without compromising the audio quality. I’ve downloaded the 7-day free trial version a few weeks ago to test the software and I was really amazed with how it worked. It is clearly a time-saver for I was able to watch webinars in about half the time I usually spend on it before. Now, I can watch and finish more materials with lesser time.
Myspeed is only compatible for sites that use Flash for their video play such as Youtube. So it might not work for all the sites you may come across. It is a great way to zoom past the bits in the video you watch that you might find unimportant. I didn’t realize how slow the videos I watch are and how much time I have wasted until I tried this software.
You can speed through the video up to five times faster though I recommend first time users to use 1.5x to 2x so as to get used to the pacing. Once you’ve got the hang of it, you can increase to your desired speed. What makes it different from the simple fast-forward process is that it doesn’t lose audio quality and comprehension with increase in speed. It reduces the “chipmunk effect” you usually get when fast-forwarding videos which prevents you from absorbing and processing what you’ve just heard. I was pretty impressed with how fast it was to adjust the pitch as you increase the speed.
You can also slow down the speed of the video to as slow as 0.3x than normal to help you digest information more slowly or to take down notes. With slower rate, you can clearly hear each word an individual says, which is most helpful in lecture videos and webinars. By decreasing the speed, you can also enjoy slow motions of your favorite extreme sports to better enjoy the experience.
What’s extra special is that the slider bar pops automatically on the screen when you watch a video on your web browser. It has an extremely simple user interface that you don’t really have to spend even a minute to master it.
To test this software, you can avail of the free trial to see how beneficial this software is in saving you time without compromising learning.
There is so much to learn out there. By speeding up webinars, lectures and other videos, you can gather more information in less time. Get your own MySpeed copy and increase your productivity.
