Grolsch International Jazz Festival in Enschede
For the 2009
Pinksterweekend (Pentecost weekend), the 3rd annual Grolsch
International Jazz Festival will be held at the Oude Markt in
Enschede. This free festival features many different activities
which caters to both the mild jazz fan and the jazz-fanatic.Performances will be taking place at the Oude Markt, including Rita Reys, Europe's First Lady of Jazz. Also featuring performances by many favorites such as Karin Bloemen, De Dutch Swing College Band, Kyteman's Hip Hop Orkest, Fapy Lafertin, Lilian Viera with Zuco 103, and saxophonists Piet Noordijk, Toon Roos and Dick de Graaff.
In addition, there will be the ArtEZ Composition Contest and also the Dutch Big Band Contest, where bands from all over will be competing for the highest honor. Of these other activities, one featured is Jazz4Kids on 29 May from 10am to 1pm. This is a mixture of fun workshops and educational projects designed especially for children ages 4 to 12 at the Jacobuspodium at the Oude Markt.
